DEC 23--JAN 4 Sun, Earth & Sea
Thursday December 23 through January 4 Seasonal
Celebrate the Solar System
Jimbo joined earth-wide festivities rejoicing in the lengthening days and return of the sun.
Baltimore
Earth
To combat festivity fatigue, I ventured from the center of the fringe universe and went to the Guggenheim Museum (New York). Its Aztec exhibit included, some of the world's finest naturalistic animal sculpture. The Aztecs depicted our mysterious, complex, and multi-layered human experience as an earth made of writhing snakes and inhabited by blood-thirsty gods. Their culture was almost as strange as our own is today. The venture was well worth the Chinatown bus ($35 round trip including foreign travel experience) and $23 exhibit admission. $58 plus subway fare and lunch

Sea
May all of you enjoy this next cycle of the sun as much as I intend to! There's only ten weeks until the first equinox. Even better, there's good reason to spend at least two of those weeks in the Caribbean: the only way to be certain that Baltimore remains the center of the fringe universe is to leave it occasionally, especially in February. Less than $250 roundtrip airfare, camping $20 per night or less
