REVIEW: Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
The Mobtown Theater at Meadow Mill
Friday thu Sunday, January 28--30 at 8:00 PM
Better than sex?
Yes, it’s love. If you have any reservations about seeing a musical play about a botched sex-change operation, get rid of them.
Go. Take your friends. Hedwig’s only here one more weekend. Make reservations today. Then laugh, cry, think, smile, and marvel at the miracle of human collaboration with the gods of theater. Or just have a great time for $15.
You’ll never see a better Hedwig. Jordan Siebert is a star. His timing, voices, electricity, presence, dance, physique command the stage. You can say you saw him ‘when.’
The musicians/actors of The Angry Inch, Hedwig’s band, back her with expert impertinence along with the lovely singing of vocalist Shelly Work (Yitzhak). Jen Tonon (Yakof), bass player, created a wonderful character part as a punk-garage-band boy lost in a waltz-length tutu. There for the ride. Christopher Bauvelt’s (Krzyzhtof ) awesome lead guitar added another whole level to the production.
Mobtown Players gave Hedwig as many foils as she could hope for, even though she will never have enough. Golden Globe kudos to the Lisa Wood Baker, Robert A. Gee, Terry J. Long (Director) and all the crew. Gooses to the Gaggle from Fork (who knew what talent that river-crossing grew?).
This is not Andrew Lloyd Weber. For a classical religious experience and worship in the manner of the ancients, Rock and Roll!
